Insects have many different ways of bugging us (See what I did there?). From crawling on us in the most inconvenient places to flying into our TV while we’re trying to relax after a hard day at work, insects seem to be everywhere. Because of this issue many Winston-Salem residents face, our exterminator has put together a list of the most common bugs we exterminate regularly. And luckily, this list pertains to North Carolina!
Popular Insects Who Call Winston-Salem Home
Ailanthus Webworm Moth (Atteva Punctella)
The Ailanthus Webworm Moth is easy to spot, especially prior to blossoming into a, what some people call, “beautiful” insect. The colors of this bug are highly recognizable; this moth is orange, red, white and black. Although they don’t seem to bug many individuals within their home, they’re known for destroying plants, flowers and gardens. And, although its name has “moth” within it, its body looks more like a flower beetle than an actual moth.
American Bumble Bee
Bumble bees are cute, right? Well, they can be cute, unless they have become more of a pest than a handy-helper. These bees work tirelessly all day long to pollinate specific flowers and plants within your garden. Although they may look mean, they’re usually friendly unless they feel threatened. The American Bumble Bee is highly recognizable because of its bright yellow and jet black body.
